Research Process
Cycle Aware uses a mix of innovative methods to meet the project objectives. They include:
CONTENT
Review, analyse and compare national pre-driver and driver curricula, theory and practical tests
INTERVIEWS
Interview representatives of key organisations about how cyclists are currently referred to in driver licensing and how gaps might be addressed
CRASH DATA
Analyse driver-cyclist crash data including collisions and near misses from State and Territory government data bases to create a typology of car-cycle collisions
MODULE
Produce a Cycle Aware package of knowledge and skills required by drivers for safer interaction with cyclists as based on findings from the project
EVALUATION
Evaluate the Cycle Aware module through self-evaluation by learner drivers
